Using Business Models

Business Models are used to create new company templates from the demo company or your company data folders. When you are creating your business model you can specify whether to create an empty set and use the Net•Yield default settings and tables, include "Tables Only" vs. "All Data", and thus create a clone of your existing company as compared to a copy of the company. The system uses the XML programming language to create a new set of business models.

To create the demo company:

After installing Net•Yield, click on the Net•Yield Demo Company icon. The demo company will be created automatically based on the demo company XML templates found in the Shared\NetYield\data\Business Models\Demo Company folder. The demo company can only be created once

To create your own business model:

1. Open the system utilizing either a demo company template or your live Net•Yield system. When a user creates a new company, Net•Yield looks to the Business Models XML templates to create the new company database files. If there are no XML files in the Business Models folder, the system will notify the user that the XML files must be created. The following message will display: "The initialization files were not found in the Business Models folder. Initialization files must be located in the \NetYield\Business Models\ folder.

The demo company or the current system that you are using to create the new business from should contain the appropriate settings, default values, table entries, and transactions (if any) that you want to include in the new business model.

2. Select the Business Models menu option from the System menu.

3. When you first enter the Business Models option a Select An Option to Create Business window will display the following options:

Important! If Remove Test Data is selected, ALL current transaction data will be removed and transaction numbers will be reset the system default starting numbers. This option should only be used under the guidance of the Net•Yield support department.

Scroll to the appropriate option and press Enter to select. XML files will be created in Shared\NetYield\Business Models folder, based on the option selected.

To create a new company from the Business Models created

1. If you have already created a new company folder (for example, "MyCompany") in the Program Files\NetYield\Data folder on your local workstation you may select the folder now. If a new company folder has not yet been created, use the "Make Folder" button to create a new folder. The new company folder will be created in the Program Files\NetYield\Data path. However, once the new folder is created it may be moved to any mapped drive on your network. Be sure to properly link any desktop shortcuts to that company's system. When the files are finished copying, the system will return to the System menu. See Installing Net•Yield for more information.

2. Select the new folder in C\Program Files\Data folder.

Note: If XML files have not been created using the Empty Set, Tables Only, or All Data option, and an empty folder is selected, the following message will display: "The initialization files were not found in the Business Models folder. Initialization files must be located in the \NetYield\Business Models\folder.

3. The following message will display: "Do you want to create a new company in C:\PROGRAM FLIES\NETYIELD\DATA\NAME OF FOLDER? Yes/No."

4. If you select yes, Net•Yield will load with the information based on the selection made in Step #3.
